Do you have to believe in God?
There is no requirement to be an active member of any religion however Freemasons are expected to have a belief in a ‘Supreme being’ this is deliberately phrased so as to celebrate the diverse nature of the beliefs of all our members.
Is Freemasonry a secret society?
Freemasonry is not a secret society and our members are very open about their freemasonry however as with most organisations parts of freemasonry are only open to members.
Who can become a Freemason?
Freemasonry welcomes all men of all races, religions, income, education and opinion. However you must meet the following criteria: Be at least 18 years of age Believe in the existence of a supreme being Be of good character be motivated to join for reasons that are not related to personal gain or profit.
Can Women become Freemasons?.
Only men aged 18 years or over are allowed to join the United Grand Lodge of England the two leading women’s Grand Lodge’s are
What is different about the way Freemasons give to charity?.
The sheer scale that we give to charity. Freemasons are one of the biggest donators to charity in the UK in 2023 alone we gave £6.8 million to local and national charities.
What is Freemasonry's relationship with politics?.
Lodges governed by United Grand Lodge of England like luventutis lodge 9338 never express a view on politics and the discussion of politics at our meetings has always been prohibited.
